NO MORE ROUTINE FINGER PRICKS

The FreeStyle Libre 2 app is only compatible with certain mobile devices and operating systems. Use of the FreeStyle Libre 2 app requires registration with LibreView.

Fingersticks are required if your glucose alarms and readings do not match symptoms or when you see Check Blood Glucose symbol during the first 12 hours.

Glucose readings are not available during 1-hour warm-up, when sensor is too hot or too cold, when you see an error, "LO" or "HI" message, or no current glucose reading.

Sensor is water-resistant in up to 1 meter (3 feet) of water. Do not immerse longer than 30 minutes. 

The FreeStyle Libre 2 app and the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader have similar but not identical features. Fingersticks are required for treatment decisions when you see the Check Blood Glucose symbol and when your glucose alarms and readings from the system do not match symptoms or expectations.

Notifications will only be received when alarms are turned on and the sensor is within 20 feet unobstructed of the reading device. You must enable the appropriate settings on your smartphone to receive alarms and alerts, see the FreeStyle Libre 2 User’s Manual for more information.

The FreeStyle Libre 2 app also has a mandatory Urgent Low Glucose Alarm that lets users know when their glucose value is below 55 mg/dL.

To get the Urgent Low Glucose Alarm on your phone with the FreeStyle Libre 2 app, you will first need to start your FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with your phone. If you do not start your FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with your phone, you will not get the Urgent Low Glucose Alarm on your phone.

Unlike traditional glucose monitoring, using the FreeStyle Libre sensor does not involve routine finger pricks.

The FreeStyle Libre sensor is factory calibrated - so you don’t need to calibrate it again.

It continuously measures the glucose concentration in your interstitial fluid, and stores 8 hours of data.

The FreeStyle Libre sensor’s small size makes it discreet to wear.
This small water resistant1 sensor is worn on the back of your upper arm and lasts for up to 14 days.

How It Works:

1.  Apply the sensor

The FreeStyle Libre sensor is applied to the back of the upper arm with a simple, disposable device called an applicator. When the sensor is applied, a thin, flexible, and sterile fibre is inserted just under the skin. It is held in place with a small adhesive pad.

2. Scan  Scanner

To obtain a glucose reading, simply perform a quick, painless 1-second scan of the reader over the sensor. This scan gives you more information than monitoring with blood glucose test strips, without the need for routine finger pricks2. The FreeStyle Libre system also offers optional FreeStyle Libre software to generate concise reports to assist with the analysis of glucose data.

3.Get Reading

Each scan of the reader over the sensor gives a current glucose reading, the last 8-hours of glucose history, and a trend arrow showing if glucose is going up, down, or changing slowly. The reader can scan through clothing
