Milk Thistle Uses and Benefits

Milk thistle also acts as a liver detoxifier and liver cleanser by eliminating toxins out of the body. It also reduces damage caused by toxins in the liver and helps in rebuilding new liver cells.
Milk thistle works effectively against toxicity within the body that includes pesticides in food, heavy metals found in water, adverse effects of alcohol, and pollutants in the air.

2. Silymarin for protection from Cancer
Milk thistle contains an antioxidant flavonoid called silymarin which is made up of many active compounds called flavolignans.
Silymarin has been found effective in fighting DNA damage, boosting up the immune system, and shifting the growth of cancerous tumors in the body, which all resultantly contribute to lowering the risk of cancer, including breast cancer.
Additionally, silymarin may also give protection against other types of cancer such as prostate and lung cancer, as reported by some animal and test-tube studies.
