Psoriasis: Causes, Triggers, Treatment

A skin disorder that causes redness and itchiness in skin patches usually on the skin of elbows, trunk and scalp is called psoriasis. Psoriasis is long term commonly found disease which has no cure till date.

·         Corticosteroids

Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid ointment, often recommended for delicate areas for example your face or folds of skin. It helps to cure patches which are extended over a wide area.

·         Vitamin D analogues

Synthetic types of Vitamin D for example calcipotropin and calcitriol (Vectical), help to slow the development of skin cell. The medicine may be used on its own or with topical corticosteroids.

In sensitive areas, calcitriol can create less irritation. Synthetic types of vitamin D are more costly in comparison to topical corticosteroids.
